Soroptimist Kuwait is a newly formed Kuwaiti NGO affiliated with Soroptimist International Europe (SIE), and was chartered by SIE on October 23, 2015. The name Soroptimist was coined from the Latin soror meaning sister, and optima meaning best. And so, Soroptimist is perhaps best interpreted as ‘the best for women’. Our mission is to transform the lives of women and girls on local and international levels. Our goals aim to execute SI vision and missions to enable, educate, and empower women through raising awareness, advocating, and taking action through the following 5 program directions:

A Soroptimist Kuwait program that aims for educational empowerment of women by providing scholarships to survivors of domestic violence. The scholarship will offer skill training programs to young girls and women that will guarantee financial independence and self-sufficiency, in order to aspire women to progress academically and professionally.

Development

Ending Violence Against Women Rehabilitation Program 
Psychological and Educational Empowerment :
Concentrates on providing support groups and group therapy for the survivors to discuss mental challenges such as depression anxiety fear and trauma

Communication Skills Empowerment :
Development of verbal and non-verbal communications skills along with the science of emotional intelligence to enhance the survivor’s skills in job finding, interviews, and management of positions

Health Empowerment through Physical Therapy:
Teaching and instructing survivors about rehabilitation techniques for women’s health
and pelvic floor rehabilitation, low back and pelvic girdle pain, and efficient and proper breathing techniques

Medical Empowerment:
Teaching survivors about their general health, women’s medical and reproductive health, and healthcare rights

Nutritional Rehabilitation:
Teaching survivors the science of food combinations, nutrition, and behavioral development to have a healthier lifestyle, as most have suffered from eating disorders

Professional Empowerment:
This mini workshop will provide them an opportunity to explore their ability in English thereafter enroll them individually in courses that need to be funded on an individual level.

Economic Empowerment- Bridging the Financial Gap

• Soroptimist Kuwait aims to create and educate women to be financially independent, build their finance, empower saving habits and encourage good money habits
• Financial awareness and money management skills can lend women a deeper sense of security that makes it easier to save and invest for the future. An understanding of the challenges, advice and resources available to help can facilitate the process.
• Soroptimist Kuwait will provide scholarships for women to attend a corporate governance program, so they are licensed to serve on the boards of companies and banks
• Soroptimist Kuwait will organize financial awareness and money management courses to give women a deeper sense of security that make it easier to save and invest for the future.

Health - ANA Program 

• Soroptimist Kuwait promotes mental health and well-being for all women. We work to ensure that women’s experiences and their wellbeing will reflect their unique biological, psychological, and social needs.
• Soroptimist Kuwait’s ANA program provides women with a sense of belonging where they can seek social support they may need
• Being part of a community can have a positive effect on mental health and emotional wellbeing. Community involvement provides a sense of belonging and social connectedness. It can also offer extra meaning and purpose to everyday life.
• The program includes providing women with opportunities to socialize in a friendly setting by hosting simple programs such as painting, cooking, exercise, gardening, learning a new skill, reading and book clubs, yoga,
