Past Project
More than a quarter of the diseases spread in Gaza are caused by water pollution, as Gaza relies entirely on groundwater, and according to statistics, 12% of deaths of young children and infants are related to diseases related to polluted water due to the blockade and dilapidated water networks.
The water transported through the water networks of homes in Gaza is not suitable for human use, forcing about 90% of families to buy water from desalination plants transported by tanks.
The price of desalinated water in purification plants is 10-30 times higher than that of piped water, which imposes additional financial burdens on the population, who suffer as a result of the high rates of poverty and unemployment by more than 50%.
The project aims to provide potable water through the establishment of a water desalination plant in the middle of a neighborhood in northern Gaza. The project serves approximately 3,000 people.
The project consists of three phases:
The first phase: supply and installation of a desalination plant with a capacity of 50 cubic meters per day, construction of a room of 20 square meters and supply and connection of 6 tanks with a capacity of 5000 liters per tank.
The second phase: Supply and installation of a solar energy system to operate the station during the power outage, with a capacity of 10 kilowatts.
The third phase: supplying and installing a mashrabiya equipped with 6 water taps to serve the residents of the neighborhood.
